Services in April 2025

April 6th, 10 am, “Generosity”, led by David Perry. In the second installment of our experiment with worship material from the Touchstones Project, David Perry will read a sermon on generosity. This Sunday will also be the kickoff of our Annual Pledge campaign. Come prepared to be inspired to give generously.

April 13th, 10 am, “Picking Your Battles”, led by Maya Gilmore. The world seems to offer an almost infinite supply of “battles” – appointments to schedule, letters to write, events to attend. In this roundtable discussion, Maya Gilmore will ask, “Why do we sometimes struggle to let go of certain tasks, plans or even ideals? Is picking our priorities always necessary, and is it always the best course of action?”

April 20th, 10 am, “The Inspiration of Wind”, led by Jeff Lockwood. Jeff Lockwood will share his thoughts about the wind–that defining feature of our Laramie landscape, which has moved humankind, both literally and figuratively. No other element of nature so dramatically symbolizes our principles of connectedness, tolerance, humility, and empowerment. And we invite you to bring a kite, if you are so moved, to celebrate the wind after the service.

April 27th, 4:30 pm (note the time), “The North American Unitarian Association” led by Ken Chestek and Mike Long. The North American Unitarian Association (NAUA) is a newer UU organization that’s growing fast. Mike Long, member of the NAUA board will speak with our congregation via Zoom about the NAUA’s philosophy, resources, and programming. Come with questions prepared for a roundtable held in the sanctuary.
Following the service, there will be a potluck. Bring your own drinks and a dish to share; plates and silverware will be provided.

BULLETIN BOARD

Treasurer’s Report: Our pledge income is on track for this far into our fiscal year, and our expenses continue to be below what we anticipated. Details, as always, are available in the Board meeting minutes notebook in the Fellowship office.
Building: The Board approved a $7500 contract with Capitol City Roofing for another attempt at fixing the leak over the entryway.
Memorial Plaque: The Board approved a form from the Caring Committee to nominate deceased members/friends to be added to the Memorial Plaque. A hard-copy of the form is available in the pamphlet rack in the Fellowship, email (see the Caring Committee Note below). A printable PDF version of the form will be posted on this website soon.
Nominating Committee: Linda Meeker agreed to head up the Nominating Committee in preparation for our annual meeting in May.
Canvas Committee: Jeff Lockwood and Sara Saulcy agreed to head up the Canvas Committee for this Spring’s Pledge campaign. The COM should have finished its recommendation for how best to fulfill our ministry goals before the Pledge Campaign, so any anticipated additional expenses can be included in the proposed budget for 2025-2026.
The Budget Subcommittee of the Canvas Committee (Sara Saulcy, Nan Lockwood and David Perry) met to assemble a proposed budget for next year that will provide for the proposals that came up during our roundtable discussion on the future of ministry at our UUFL. The Pledge drive to fund the proposed budget will kick off on April 6th. Look for a letter in your mailbox.
Tech Update: the Board is planning to have our super-tech (Chris Stratton) videorecord formal programs for posting on our UUFL webpage.
Caring Committee:If you have an item that Caring Committee should be aware of, please contact Jim Erdelyi (Chair) at 307 760-8274. Other Caring members: Ralph Garrett, Robin Chestek, Sara Saulcy can be contacted.
Memorial Plaque Nominations: If you would like to nominate a deceased
person (member/friend) for inclusion on the plaque, please submit their name, year of death, along with approximate years of association with UUFL and a short reason for their inclusion. You may nominate more than one person. Kindly submit this information to Jim Erdelyi at erdelyi@wyomail.com. Thanks, from the Caring Committee.

Wanted: UUFL Website Administrator. The Fellowship is looking for a person to replace the current admin, Sara Saulcy, to maintain and rehab this website. The content management system that it uses is WordPress. A background in writing code in a language such as SAS, Fortran, etc. is helpful but not necessary. All that is really needed is a willingness to learn and a commitment to maintaining and improve the website. Please contact Sara at s.saulcy@gmail.com or 307-247-2911 to volunteer and/or with questions. Thank you in advance!

The 2024-2025 elected Board officers are: Linda Meeker and Jeff Lockwood, Co-Chairs; Robin Chestek, Secretary, and David Perry, Treasurer. Member-at-large is Sara Saulcy.
